Here is the lowdown on applying for FRU membership:
Of course you will have to gather enough players to field a side, and we recommend that you schedule a couple of friendlies with local teams.
If you can continuously field a team for a couple of games, you should consider applying for membership in the FRU.
Usually, we require 1 year of associate membership (sponsored by another team) before promoting a team to full competitive membership, but since we have a few new teams and want to encourage membership, we may allow teams to skip associate membership.
However, full FRU membership does mandate full dues and CIPP compliance (find rates here
, so if your club cannot meet those financial obligations, it’s not wise to apply for membership. We always suggest that clubs recruit a local company to sponsor dues and field costs.
Before you apply for membership, you must register your team with USA Rugby.
You must submit your list of officers, practice times and location, coaches name, logo/mascot,team/jersey colors, website name, if applicable.
You have to submit all of these to the FRU executive board, who will then put your application to the membership at the annual meeting, for a vote.
You can hold practices and camps without CIPP membership.
