Helping hand

We know times are hard but if you can dig ( and take a deduction) to help the U 20 see below from Dai Morgan one of the U 20 0coaches….

Dear FRU Member Clubs,

I am writing on behalf of the FL U20 Men’s Select Side who are preparing for our game with the NSW (Australia) Districts XV in Orlando on Saturday 4th December. Our game will be the curtain raiser to the FRU Senior men’s side game versus Life University’s RSL XV.

So far we have held three U20 High Performance camps in Boca Raton, Tampa and Orlando. Over 70 players have tried out for the side and we have two more camps, both in Orlando, before the game against the Aussies. The last time they toured FL they won convincingly and we are trying for a far better result this time around. The boys have really committed to the cause and are pitching up to camps on Sundays after they have played hard games for their clubs and colleges on Saturday. They work their butts off for another 5 hours in camp then they drive long distances to their homes and college dorms afterwards, arriving home exhausted and sore in the evening with work or school the next day.

They are putting out the effort because they want to better themselves as players and because they want to test themselves against top quality opponents from overseas and also put their hands up for selection to the USA U19 and U20 National teams by playing well in front of the National Age Grade Coaches who will be at the game with Life University.

I am writing to the FL Rugby Community for help in preparing these players as best as we can to represent all of us against NSW on December 4. This is an opportunity for all of us in Florida to get behind our young players and show them that we are proud of their efforts and do what we can to help them.

To that end, I am asking every club to ask their members to make a donation towards the costs involved in preparing for and staging this game. Any amount, large or small is more than we have now!
