D 1 2 & 3 structure for upcoming season
Following the South meeting yesterday at which the structure for the 2010/2011 season was agreed a number of key changes occur.
Division 1 – Boca Raton and Tampa Krewe will join with Atlanta Old White and Renegades to form the South 1. The dissolving of Life D 1 and with Nashville dropping to D 2 it means there will be no cross over games and the home and away results of the 6 matches played will determine the south champion with first and second places having home games in the cross over with mid west. Fixture planning will come from South D 1 commissioner Dominic Duffy shortly.
D 2 will see Fort Lauderdale Naples Miami and Tridents return to D 2 forming a South conference. It is intended that these teams will play home and away.
Pelicans Daytona Jacksonville and Orlando will form the Northern conference and play each other home and away.
Both the North and South teams will play each other once making 2 home and 2 away games which will be reversed in 2011/12 on the assumption there will be no relegation/promotion by the South.
At least 2 seeds will go forward to the south Championships based on points at the end of the season.
D 3
Gainesville will return to D 3 and when the positions/commitment of Pasco/Myrmidon, Tampa Sharks and Sarasota Saracens (new team) are clarified with Commissioner Frank Williams within the next 10 days then the D 3 schedule will emerge. it is assumed that Treasure Coast, Brevard Krewe B Palm Beach are continuing. The season will be a minimum of 8 games possibly 12, and the south will look to advancing 2 seeds to their championships.
League play for D 2 and D 3 will begin the week of November 13 .
