SOUTH SEVENS CAMP INVITE
Greetings,
My name is Austin Dacanay and I am the South regional coach for USA Rugby South 7s. I have been asked by my Head coach, Julie McCoy to make contact with our senior and collegiate men’s clubs in order to unearth more talent out of the southern region of our territory.
As many of you know, heard of, or have experienced in the past, florida has not had many representatives on the South 7s squad, and the lastest list of invitees to the South 7s camp in Atlanta July 29-Aug 1, reflects this same trend, which both surprises and disappoints me.
I have not only seen but played with and/or against many very talented players in this region, including those on the 2010 USA Rugby Division 2 National Champions Tampa Krewe, and have the power not only recommend them to our coaching staff, but get the invitation to the South 7s camp. From this point, our best southern region players will have a fair and legitimate shot to earn a spot on the squad, But without anyone stepping forward and raising their hand, we will continue to go unnoticed in our regional tournaments like sunshine state games and todd miller 7s.
So I guess what I’m asking for from you is to put up or shut up. This is your chance to step foward with your guys so they can represent us guys. Forget about size, shape, or rugby pedigree, if you have a baller, I want to showcase him vs. the rest of the the regions in the South. I only ask one thing, read all of the information about our minimum physical standards, what he’s in for when at the Atlanta camp, and how to prepare at:

and then email me with your thoughts, comments, and more importantly, player referrals for this camp so we can have better representation in the South from the southern region.
