Men’s Collegiate Florida Cup Ground Rules
As the collegiate season starts, I would like to clarify some of the ground rules for this season.
Game times and confirmation: Although the standard game time in Florida is 2PM, some of the universities have restricted game times on some dates due to other activities on campus. Please check the allowable game times for your home games for any potential problems. If you are required to play earlier than 12 pm or later than 4 pm, contact the visiting team ASAP and copy me at nrfcken@cox.net. The earlier you notify the other team, the easier it is to get agreement on the game time or to reschedule the game. We will work something out given enough notice. I recommend you confirm all of your games with the other teams now. That is the best way to avoid any issues on game day.
Contact Info: Many of your club’s contact info is not updated on the FRU web site. Please check the web site and confirm your contact info at http://www.floridarugbyunion.com/member-clubs/ To change the info click on the “contact us” button on the bottom of the page and take care of it. If you are trying to contact a club, try going to www.usarugby.org and check the club roster. The primary contact should be on that page. You can also contact me if these do not pan out..
CIPP Paperwork: CIPP rosters with the starting 15 must be filled out before the game. The reserves must be added immediately after the game at the latest. Make sure the referee and the opposing captain signs the paperwork. If there are any protests, it must be submitted at this time and acknowledged by the referee. The winning team will submit both forms to me by fax 352-505-0294 or email at nrfcken@cox.net. These signed forms must be submitted by Wednesday evening following the game. Playing a non-registered player will result in a forfeit with possible additional sanctions.
USA Eligibility Paperwork: If you are competing towards the national championships, you must submit the eligibility paperwork to me by October 9. You will be able to add players later, but you must submit the appropriate paperwork. Basically, a player has 5 years of eligibility from the first day he started college or junior college. Unless he is a graduating senior, he must be a full time student. There are exceptions that require waivers, but that is handled through USA Rugby. Have your registrar complete the USA RUGBY COLLEGIATE PLAYER ELIGIBILITY FORM and submit the form to via fax, email or snail mail. If you play a player that is ineligible per USA guidelines, your team will be disqualified from advancing to the South/National playoffs.
Scoring System: The bonus point system will be used to determine the standings follow:
Win- 4 points
Tie – 2 points
Score more than 4 tries – 1 bonus point
Lose by 7 points or less – 1 bonus point
The tiebreaker system will be added to the standings page in the near future.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call or email me.
